Journal: E3 is Nigh

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Sadly, I haven’t played many games this week.  I’m still working my way through Assassin’s Creed 2, and I still feel the same way I felt last week about it.  The free-running mechanic is pretty fun, but ultimately still a little broken.  My most frustrating moments come with the assassin’s tombs.  Though gorgeous and well-crafted, the camera angles kept the free-running from being enjoyable.  Also, because the mechanic isn’t perfect, rushing me to complete them only made the issues stand out that much more for me.  I only have one more of them to finish though before I hit the rest of the end game.

Fallout 3 Achievements Unveiled

In the wake of yesterday’s achievement updates,  today was greated by new ones for Fallout 3’s ever-nearing DLC, Operation: Anchorage.  The DLC is exlcusive to the Xbox 360 and PC, so all you PS3 owners out there aren’t going to receive –what is assumed to be– a winter-wonderland expansion to the biggest RPG of 2008 (it does have “Anchorage” in the title after all).  Head past the break for the achievements and the conditions that must be met to, well, achieve them.

Gears of War 2 Patched, detailed by “Super Moderator” [Update]

gears2patched

[Update] Video after the break from Xplay.  They interviewed Cliff Bleszinski about what the update entails and why it was done –as if it wasn’t obvious from the patch notes– as well as other questions concerning the game and it’s reception.  By the way, he’s been playing Fallout 3, and it has him “hook, line, and sinker.”  Sorry for the small video, G4 has terrible video scaling.  View it on their site here to mediate the issue.

Yesterday the details of the achievements for the new Gears of War 2 patch were revealed by Xbox.com.  I claimed that this would mean the title update (in other words patch) would be released in the near future.  Turns out it was very near.  You should be able to update by loading up your copy of Gears of War 2 and connecting to live.  Check after the break for a short breakdown of the updates.
